The funeral procession began when the simple pine box was lifted up and Cesar Estrada Chavez traveled for the last time to the Forty Acres, original headquarters of the United Farmworkers of America, in Delano, California. It was a sunny morning, the 29th of April, 1993. Fifty thousand people marched through the streets with countless memories, stories, and hopes that Cesar inspired through thirty years of organizing compesinos in the United States. A Charleston neurosurgeon who went to Libya in February to treat the injured in his strife-torn homeland has been missing since March 16, according to a human rights group.
Dr. Rida Mazagri was last seen leaving Ajdabiya and is among at least three doctors missing in eastern Libya, Human Rights Watch wrote on its website. The group said they are among hundreds of people reported missing in that region since mid-February.
