A financial briefing on last year's budget was given Wednesday to Cattaraugus County legislators during a final end-of-summer session.
Auditors from Toski, Schaefer & Co. PC, of Williamsville, presented specifics on the $211.3 million budget, which includes a fund balance of $22 million. Of that amount, $19 million was not designated.

Duquesne City School District is utilizing what may be its final budget.
The $15,693,627 plan is spelled out in 42 pages. It taps a $1,405,186 fund balance for $1,189,949 to supplement $14,503,678 in anticipated revenue.

Municipal and school departments ended their last budget year with a $2.2 million surplus, which city and school officials say could be used to reduce taxes.
They attributed the savings in the fiscal year that ended June 30 to a mild winter, the refinancing of school debt, open positions and a profitable school food service program, among other things.

PHILLIPS - Voters will be able to offer changes to the proposed budget during the annual town meeting Saturday, interim Town Manager Elaine Hubbard said Thursday.
The proposed budget of $944,000 is nearly 1 percent more than last year, she said.
