Former San Bernardino County Assessor Bill Postmus told his second lieutenant, Adam Aleman, that he planned to launder profits from his land investments through his real estate company, according to court testimony Monday.
Hollis "Bud" Randles, a senior investigator with the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office, said Postmus told Aleman that he planned to launder the money either through Artisan Land Consultants or through his father. He planned to use the money for campaign contributions, Randles said.

LITCHFIELD - David Kamila, an engineer and land-use professional who lives in Litchfield, has been elected to the Maine Real Estate & Development Association Board of Directors.
Kamila is a principal with Stantec Consulting Ltd. in its Portland office. He worked for Land Use Consultants in Portland for 27 years, including the past seven as president. He recently sold the firm to Stantec Consulting.

I had the pleasure of participating in a week-long community forum hosted by the town of Taos last month. The community forum was being held by a group of consultants called Placemakers. They were hired by the town to create a vision for land use in our community called the Taos Smart Code.
Throughout the week, I estimate that at least 150 community members participated. But for those in our community that didn't know about it or couldn't make it, I thought I would provide my insights into why I think this new land use plan and code is a smart choice for Taos.

DOVER-FOXCROFT - The Land Use Regulation Commission has hired two consultants to work with the department to help process Plum Creek's proposed development plan for the Moosehead Lake region, Piscataquis County commissioners learned Tuesday.
LURC Director Catherine Carroll said the positions of Evan Richerts of Portland, former state planning office director under the King administration, and attorney Ron Kreisman of Hallowell, will be funded by $100,000 provided by Plum Creek.

REDLANDS - Thursday's special meeting of the Airport Advisory Board has been moved from the Police Annex to the lobby of the Redlands Municipal Airport, 1755 Sessums Drive.
The board will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. for an airport land use workshop by consultants from Coffman Associates. The meeting is open to the public and a portion of the meeting is reserved for public comment.
