A melee involving about 200 inmates at the high-security U.S. Penitentiary in Florence was quelled only after correctional officers shot and killed two inmates Sunday. Shots from correctional guards killed inmates identified as Brian Scott Kubik and Phillip Lee Hooker.

BYU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Sophomore forward Dani Kubik was named the Mountain West Conference women's basketball player of the week, her first career award. Kubik helped lead the Cougars to two Mountain West Conference victories last week over San Diego State and UNLV. Both games were career-best performances for Kubik as she scored 14 points and grabbed seven boards against each opponent.

• Nutrition Instruction in Seventh Grade: A Comparison of Teachers with and Without Fcs Background

This study compared attitudes and confidence levels, regarding classroom nutrition education, of seventh grade teachers of nutrition, family and consumer sciences (FCS), or health education. A 17-item online questionnaire was used to obtain the data from randomly selected schools in Louisiana. Teachers who reported an educational background in FCS (n = 75) were significantly more confident in teaching nutrition and influencing students' nutrition related behaviors than teachers without an FCS background (n = 28). The findings suggest that teachers with an FCS background are more confident teaching students about healthy nutrition habits and are more likely to influence student behavior regarding nutrition.
