Kudos to Richard Piatt of KSL-TV for his recent piece comparing the facts versus the claims on the year's hottest ballot issue. This was the first item in local news I have seen that effectively cut through the rhetoric and presented usable information for the voters.

A popular figure familiar to millions of people in the Intermountain West for decades as the on-air weatherman for KSL-TV in Salt Lake City is now director of the Laie Hawaii Temple Visitors Center for the next two years.
Elder Mark Eubank, who recently retired from his TV weather- casting responsibilities, and his wife, Sister Jean Eubank, had been serving a senior mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints for a year at the St. George, Utah, Temple Visitors Center when he was asked to take the reins in Laie. He succeeded Elder Richard Jacobs on January 17.

Managers at KSL-TV Channel 5 announced Thursday the retirement of television news director Brink Chipman.
Chipman began his career at KSL in 1996 as managing editor and was later promoted to vice president/news director. Chipman started in journalism working at the Ogden Standard-Examiner before moving into television news at KUTV. He has also worked as news director at stations in Boise, Tucson, DesMoines, Minneapolis and Portland.
