Hyo Jung Kim, an interior designer from Fort Lee, was eager to get in on the action May 18 when Facebook shares went public. She liked what she had been hearing about the social-networking giant's prospects. So she placed an order for 100 shares through her online account at Scottrade, before the stock market opened.
SEOUL, South Korea -- Kim Hyo-bi doesn't want her picture taken any more. Not after the 22-year-old student's portrait wound up on a photo- sharing Web site last summer with her face colored and distorted to make her look silly, titled alongside the original as "Before and After.
MARQUETTE, Mich. - Kim Hyo-jung glances down at her hands, then looks up shyly. A slight smile crosses her face. She feels out of her element speaking English to a table full of strangers. MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Kim Hyo-jung remained perfect at the U.S. short track championships. Apolo Anton Ohno finally slipped up. Then there's Shani Davis, who has some catching up to do if he wants to pull off a historic double.
MARQUETTE, Mich. - Hyo Jung "Halie" Kim is just 17, born and raised in Korea, one of the world's best short-track speedskating nations. But if she qualifies for the Olympic Games -- set for Feb. 10-26 in Turin, Italy -- she'll go as a member of the U.S. Olympic team.
It was no surprise that Apolo Anton Ohno and Hyo-Jung Kim won the men's and women's 1,500-meter races at the U.S. National Short- Track Championships on Friday night. The surprise was that Shani Davis didn't even make the final.
The fact that Apolo Anton Ohno and Hyo Jung Kim won yet another series of races at the U.S. National Short-Track Championships hardly calls for a news flash. Both swept all three heats of the 500-meter races at the Pettit National Ice Center to continue their dominance at the four-day event Saturday.
The following students were named to the superintendent's honor roll for the fourth marking period at Old Mill High School: NINTH GRADE: Carolyn Brown, Alexandria Gill, Mitchell Hill, Ashley Perry and Kimbra Powell.
