Mary Johnson remembered the smallest details about her last conversation with her daughter, Keriona Jemison, 18, who was killed in a car crash while heading home to Charleston from Kentucky last weekend.
Jemison graduated from Capital High School in May. Her parents had taken her to Kentucky State University in Frankfort Aug. 18 to help her get set up in the dorm.

Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., who are alumni of Kentucky State University gathered recently to cultivate strategies which will encourage and recruit students to attend their Alma mater. Kentucky State University is a coed historically Black college founded in 1886, located in Frankfort, Kentucky. More than 500 outstanding graduates of KSU reside in the Detroit metropolitan area. They are employed in various fields of endeavor and contribute significantly to the positive growth and development of Detroit area youth. Through its Destiny program Kentucky State University offers tuition at a reduced rate to students who reside in the Michigan counties of: Wayne, Oakland, Van Buren, Ingham, Washtenaw, Saginaw, and Berrien.

WHITTIER - Rio Hondo College will soon be graduating the next generation of fair housing advocates, through a partnership agreement signed Wednesday by college and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development officials.
By signing on, Rio Hondo College became the first community college in the nation taking part in the new National Fair Housing Collegiate Partnership, officials said. Morehouse College, Tennessee State University, Clark Atlanta University and Kentucky State University offer the program.
