[Justin Sullivan] describes the band's 2007 recording, High, as "quite an angry album." While sounding similar to Nick Cave at times, Sullivan's oeuvre lacks Cave's oldtimey biblical fire and brimstone. His is a voice in a more contemporary wilderness, whether he's beckoning the end of civilization ("All Consuming Fire"), railing against the military-industrial complex ("Bloodsports") or against mortality ("Nothing Dies Easy"). "One of the Chosen" deals with religious fundamentalism in a surprisingly empathetic way. Raised in a Quaker family, Sullivan says he used to "religion-hop" as a teen-ager. "I remember what it feels like to have that sense of certainty," he says. "It's a wonderful feeling, however erroneous it may be.

Senior forward Devon Sullivan scored a game- and season-high 20 points and hauled in eight rebounds, but the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team couldn't withstand the offensive output from the Merrimack Warriors, who won 85-74 Tuesday night in North Andover, Mass. With the loss, the Owls fall to 6-15 overall and 2-14 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Senior forward Ktrice McNeill led all scorers in the opening half with 15 points and finished with 17. Trevor Harris added eight as well as a team-high four assists. Junior guard Justin Gardenhire and Sullivan each netted seven points.

SEARSPORT - Matt Boyle scored eight of his 21 points in the third quarter, when the Sumner outscored Searsport 19-6, to propel the Tigers of East Sullivan to a 63-56 schoolboy basketball victory on Saturday. Denton Johnson and Justin Brenton each added 13 points for the winners.
