No one was injured Tuesday morning when a car struck a train engine in Somerset Borough.
Police Chief Randy Cox said Justin Delanini, 26, of Somerset failed to stop at a railroad crossing at 7:44 a.m. at Stoystown Road and Pleasant Avenue as a train approached. Train crossing signal lights were activated, and the train was sounding its horn.

From staff reports Nick DeProspo had a key two-run double in the top of the second inning to lead the Owls to a rain-shortened, five- inning, 6-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory over Merrimack Saturday in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader at North Andover, Mass.
Pitcher Justin Cox (5-3) didn't allow a hit. He walked three and struck out six to lead the Owls (33-15, 23-6) to their 15th straight win.

The Owls (32-15, 22-6) extended their school-record winning streak to 14. Justin Cox went 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Karl Derbacher went 2-for-4.

Joe Nartowicz and Jason Jacobson homered as UW-Platteville won, 11-6, at UW-Stevens Point on Sunday to split a doubleheader. The Pointers won the opener 8-5.
Tyler Jacobson hit two doubles, driving in four runs, and Wil Osmanski and Justin Cox combined for the second-game win. Platteville improved to 11-8 overall and 1-5 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
