Writer J. Michael Straczynski has worked as a writer on a huge array of projects across several mediums: "Babylon 5" and "The Real Ghostbuster" on TV, "Changeling" and the upcoming remake of "Forbidden Planet" in the cineplex and has served as the writer on "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Thor," "Fantastic Four," "Wonder Woman" and "Superman" comic books. Many people who grew up in the '80s are familiar with Straczynski's work, though they might not know it. Straczynski was involved in quite a few animated series during the decade including "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" and "She- Ra: Princess of Power." JMS eventually moved on to adult-oriented TV programs like "Murder She Wrote" before creating his magnum opus: "Babylon 5." After the cancellation of the "Babylon 5" sequel, "Crusa...

In February, a locally-produced half-hour documentary about Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Damon Keith aired on WTVS-TV 56, and subsequently aired on other PBS stations across the country beginning in July. The documentary, "Judge Damon J. Keith: Equal Justice Under the Law," was funded by the Ford Motor Company.
During his career, Keith presided over the 1971 U.S. v. Sinclair case, now known as "The Keith Decision," in which he ruled that wiretapping without a warrant was unconstitutional.

After voting I was overwhelmed with a desire to do something, anything to be part of the historical event So I went to [Obama]'s local Bedford Stuyvesant headquarters to volunteer. The attendant gave me some fliers to hand out at my polling station. When I returned, I was so amazed to see the steady stream of traffic of folks coming out to vote. There were so many young folks; parents that brought their young children to be a part of this special occasion. One young man brought his sleepy 5 year old son. "Tell them what you did?" the father shouted, "Tell him how you pulled the level for Obama! O Bam A, O Bam A he gleefully shouted causing his bashful son to smile.
The first results had already started coming in placing Obama at around 170 to McCain's two digit tally. More Midwest state...

At the beginning of the twentieth century, Bertrand Russell put forward the concept of an "analytic empiricism," an approach which he held to "eliminate Pythagoreanism from the principles of mathematics, and to combine empiricism with an interest in the deductive parts of human knowledge,"1 thus overcoming the limitations of both empiricism and rationalism which he saw to be at the heart of philosophy. Whilst the foundations of mathematics had not been clarified, a move to mathematics as method was impossible, which explains Russell's early Hegelian tendencies, but the solid foundations given to the infinitesimal calculus by Weierstrass, and the solution of Leibniz's paradox by Cantor seemed to Russell to open up the possibility of a new method, which would allow the discrete analysis ...

This study focused on school-level approaches to assessment and accountability policies and practices. A national random sample of 131 (34.22%) principals from juvenile correctional schools for committed youth (JC) responded to a mail and on-line survey. No statistically significant differences existed between respondent and nonrespondent schools. Results indicated that the majority of students with or without disabilities in JC schools participated in state assessments. The most common basis of school policies for assessment accommodations was state accommodation guidelines. For most JC schools there was no process for accountability for student participation and performance on state assessments. Almost half of principals did not know if their school made Adequate Yearly Progress. Othe...
