To the Editor: It isn't necessary to address the obvious justifications for victims of the 9-11 attacks to rejoice at the long-awaited capture and killing of Osama bin Laden. I can easily sympathize with them. But still, there is and has been for me an ongoing feeling of chaos and ambiguity from 9/12/2001 up to and continuing today regarding our foreign policy and positions of national security and domestic well-being.

The situation playing out at the University of New England is all too familiar to Jerry Boyes, the athletic director at State University College at Buffalo, a Division III school near the Canadian border in upstate New York. In January 2010, the NCAA levied sanctions on the men's and women's hockey programs at the school because of discrepencies between the amount of financial aid hockey players were getting compared with what was being given to the student body as a whole.

A good cast, an often reliable director (Barry Levinson) and potentially meaty source material (the memoirs of Hollywood producer Art Linson) can't save this turgid outing - yet another swipe at the shallowness of the Dream Factory by those working within it.
The guys in ZZ Top don't consider themselves to be a calculated band. That might surprise those who thought the whole "sharp dress man" image the band created in its videos for hit songs like "Legs," "Gimme All Your Loving" and "Sharp Dressed Man" was carefully crafted.
A good cast, an often reliable director (Barry Levinson) and potentially meaty source material (the memoirs of Hollywood producer Art Linson) can't save this turgid outing - yet another swipe at the shallowness of the Dream Factory by those working within it.
