The original goal of two-year colleges was to prepare students, through an associate's degree program, to transfer to a four-year college. Over time, the purpose evolved to include work force training programs, schooling toward certification in areas such as nursing and other professions, and adult continuing education classes. , 76, passed away January 10th, 2011 in Kingman, Arizona, at home while sitting in his chair. Junior was born in Julesburg, Colorado to Milo and Pauline (Bothel) Caton on August 15th, 1934. The family soon moved to Tieton, WA where Junior graduated from Highland High School. He enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball while at Highland. Following high school graduation, Junior enlisted in the Army. While stationed in Germany he met and married a German girl by the name of Ilsa Gelrich and brought her home to Tieton after he got out of the Army. They lived in Washington state for several months before Junior enlisted in the Air Force making it a career of 21 & 1/2 years as a Tech Sergeant for the US Air Force. After 13 years of marriage, Junior and Ilsa divorced....

I began my (JA) career last year when my former manager sent an e-mail asking if I would be interested in volunteering to teach . In this e-mail, she also copied to her manager. At the time, I didn't even realize that Junior Achieve* ment was still around. Reluctantly, I said yes; only because I didn't want to seem like a "buster," as I would call it, to the department manager.
Things were very emotional for me at the end of my five weeks with my third graders. They had become a part of me and I finally felt like I was making a difference in someone else's life.
