The original goal of two-year colleges was to prepare students, through an associate's degree program, to transfer to a four-year college. The family soon moved to Tieton, WA where Junior graduated from Highland High School. He enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball while at Highland. Following high school graduation, Junior enlisted in the Army. While stationed in Germany he met and married a German girl by the name of Ilsa Gelrich and brought her home to Tieton after he got out of the Army. They lived in Washington state for several months before Junior enlisted in the Air Force making it a career of 21 & 1/2 years as a Tech Sergeant for the US Air Force. After 13 years of marriage, Junior and Ilsa divorced....

It's not too difficult to imagine how South Charleston's 2012 softball team might have fared without junior Alli Burdette, although it might be a somewhat disturbing vision.
