Connections Education, Juilliard team upConnections Education LLC, of Baltimore, a provider of online learning services, and the Juilliard School, the New York-based performing arts school, have teamed up to create Juilliard eLearning for K-12 students and educators. Juilliard eLearning is the world-famous conservatory's first-ever group of online courses, presenting a new option for teaching music and related courses, beginning in the 2012-2013 school year. Connections Education will offer the new arts education courses to more than 40,000 K-12 students enrolled in its national network of Connections Academy virtual public schools. It will also market the courses to educational institutions and directly to K-12 students and adult learners.

When Robert W. Miles received an honorable discharge from the Army in 1946, he took advantage of the GI Bill and chose the road to success through education. He enrolled at his hometown alma mater, Lexington's University of Kentucky, and received an undergraduate and master's degree in English. After graduation, he moved to New York to study at the Juilliard School of Music. The New York Philharmonic brings some Jersey talent to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Friday with Cynthia Phelps of Leonia and Rebecca Young of Cresskill performing the Garden State premiere of "Concerto for Two Violas" by contemporary Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina.
THE CHOSEN PATH: Phelps is an established chamber musician and solo artist and has been the principal viola of the New York Philharmonic since 1992. Young joined the New York Philharmonic in 1986 as its youngest member, and in 1991 was named associate principal viola. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School.
