PETERSBURG - A program that has been helping thousands of Petersburg residents each year feed their families and pay their utility bills is about to undergo the biggest change since it started a quarter-century ago. The Outreach Program of St. Joseph Catholic Church is preparing to move its operations out of the former rectory behind the Washington Street church building and into the fast-growing HOPE (Helping Our People Ecumenically) Center on Commerce Street. The move is scheduled to be completed on Jan. 1.

UPLAND - After four months of division, the members of St. Joseph Catholic Church now have the opportunity to reunite under the leadership of a new pastor. The Diocese of San Bernardino has appointed the Rev. Jerome "Jerry" Ochetti to be the interim administrator for the church of about 4,000 families. He will serve as their priest for six months.
Sitting in a back pew at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Ind., it's a treat listening to 80-year-old Bob Steffe talk in reverent tones about the massive structure around us.
