SUFFOLK - Joseph Calhoun Webb Jr., 88, went to be with his Lord Nov. 7, 2006.
A native of Suffolk, he was the son of Mary Williams and Joseph Calhoun Webb Sr. and the husband of 60 years of Keith Pope Webb. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church, however he was baptized in and in the fellowship of the Virginia Beach Community Chapel (VBCC). A member of the America Legion, he was past president of the Suffolk Jaycees, on the Board of Suffolk Gas Company, the transportation committee of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Regional Transportation Board which was active in locating the Lipton Tea Plant in Suffolk.

At 4 p.m. on the following day, Saturday, April 7, 2007, the Symphony will present the inaugural concert of The Southeast Symphony Chorus in a presentation of The Seven Last Words of Christ by Theodore DuBois, and a second presentation of [Robert Ray]'s Gospel Mass. The concert will be at the Tamarind Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church, 417 South Tamarind Avenue, Compton. [Bradley Baker] will sing the Baritone solos of The Seven Last Words. The chorus will number approximately 150, and [Charles Dickerson], music director, said in prepared statement "I cannot wait to hear that number of voices proclaim 'He is death guilty!'" The chorus will also sing "I Was Glad" by C. Hubert Parry, music that has been presented during the coronation of royalty in England since 1902.
