It was not so long ago - four years - that a significant number of Democrats in the U.S. Congress evaluated the available evidence and voted to authorize war with Iraq. Eighty-one Democrats in the House, including a fair number of liberals like Patrick Kennedy, D- R.I., Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., endorsed a "Joint Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq. It's instructive to glance at that document now - particularly because so many Democrats are adopting the pose of Poor Misled Legislators. Here is some of what those Democrats signed on to:

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following statement regarding Iraq war critics was issued today by Fred Gedrich, former U.S. State and Defense Department Official: Democratic Party leaders have apparently committed themselves to a revisionist, false view of history on Iraq. Former President Bill Clinton, Senator John Kerry, and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid have said the 2003 invasion was a 'big mistake,' the country and the Congress were 'misled' into war, and the administration engaged in a pattern of 'manipulating' pre-war intelligence as it made the case for invading Iraq, respectively. These folks thought differently when their party held power.

As part of the Export Control Reform (ECR) Initiative, the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), Department of State, have published multiple proposed amendments to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), respectively, to strengthen national security by fundamentally reforming the export control system. This final rule implements the initial ECR changes by adding a structure and related provisions to control munitions items that the President has determined no longer warrant export control on the U.S. Munitions List (USML) on the Commerce Control List (CCL), specifically aircraft, gas turbine engines, and related items. This rule is being published in conjunction with a D...
