When most people hear John Lennon's name, they think of The Beatles. As true as that may be, John was more than just Beatle. He wasn't just a vision of prominence; he was a legend in his time. John Winston Lennon was born Oct. 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England, and named after his grandfather John and Winston Churchill. Lennon had a somewhat tumultuous early childhood with a largely absent father (due to World War II) and heated custody battles when he did return.
