Chief Deputy John D. Rutherford, a long-time lawman and the brother of Kanawha County Sheriff Mike Rutherford, reportedly announced he would run for sheriff in the 2012 election.
The announcement came at the Upper Kanawha Valley Mayor's Association meeting held at the Belle town hall, said Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper, who was in attendance.
