MILWAUKEE - It's the roar that made Milwaukee famous - the distinctive throaty rumble of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. But that much-loved racket could be rumbling away to another state if the company cannot bring down its labor costs.
Harley-Davidson warned employees in April that it will move its Wisconsin manufacturing operations elsewhere if it cannot cut millions of dollars at the factories that build the bikes known as "Milwaukee Iron.

Residents of Williamsville today will celebrate the 200th anniversary of one of the oldest commercial structures in Erie County. The Williamsville Water Mill, 56 E. Spring St., was built in 1811 by Jonas Williams. In addition to producing the only stone- ground flour in the state at that time, it also helped to sustain citizens and soldiers who fled Buffalo after the British burned the then-Village of Buffalo during the War of 1812. Today's celebration will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a short procession from Village Hall, 5565 Main St., to the mill, led by members of the Amherst Museum's Victorian Dance Society dressed in early 19th century attire. Williamsville firefighters will pull their antique hose cart, and the Williamsville Community Band will perform.

Umbrellas went up and down, but high spirits never drooped at Sunday's Granada Hills Holiday Parade.
Floats, vehicles of all kinds, equestrian groups, 11 school marching bands and, of course, Santa Claus proceeded along Chatsworth Street unimpeded by intermittent rain on a cool, gray afternoon. A crowd estimated between 10,000 to 15,000 lined the parade route, which also went down Zelzah and Kingsbury Avenue.
