LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Royal Delta won the $2 million Ladies' Classic by 21/2 lengths under the lights Friday at Churchill Downs, capping an opening day of the Breeders' Cup that included three upsets, with John Velazquez riding two of them.
Royal Delta rallied in the final furlong to give Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott his second straight win and fourth overall in the Ladies' Classic. The 3-year-old filly was the slight 2-1 favorite over Plum Pretty.

The first-ever "Pinktober" International Living Ribbon, a human chain of breast cancer survivors, will span the Rainbow Bridge starting at 7 p.m. It's just part of an ambitious program that will include a concert at the Hard Rock Cafe featuring More Than Me at 8 p.m. and Five For Fighting at 9 p.m. And the Rainbow Bridge and both sides of the border will turn pink in a cross- border effort to raise breast cancer awareness.
