John Duke Anthony reports on the 1997 summit meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). He was joined by representative from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in what he calls one of the most productive GCC gatherings in five years. The dinner honored former congressman, author and CNI founder Paul Findley (R-IL), who served in the U.S. Congress from 1961-83, and who has spent decades speaking out against the powerful Israel lobby and its role in driving U.S. foreign policy. Dr. John Duke Anthony, founding president and CEO of the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations, opened the discussion by encouraging the engagement of Iran "in every possible, imaginable way." Diplomacy has not been exhausted, he pointed out, and must be pursued further.
