NORFOLK - John Arthur Bartlett, 81, went to be with the Lord and his wife Monday, Nov. 13, 2006. He was the son of the late Letcher and Gillie Bartlett. John was born in Washington, D.C., June 4, 1925. He was also predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Irene Bartlett; three sisters, Carolyn Quiner, Eleanor Smith and Ethel Austin.
John and his wife Irene were members of Norview Baptist Church for many years where he served as a deacon. He was also a proud member of Gideons International. He was a World War II United States veteran. He was the founder and co-owner of Bartlett and White Carpet Service.

John (Jack) Bartlett, Sr., 79, walked thru the pearly Gates of Heaven on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 8:55 PM. Mr. Bartlett was a veteran of the Korean War where he received the Bronze Star. He was a loving and caring Brother, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend.
Survivors include his sister, Betty Stafford; son and his wife, John and Karen Bartlett; daughters and their husbands, Wanda Caster; Sandra and Robbie Bryan; Jane and Doug Hyde; Step-son, Richard Bartlett; two step-daughters and their husbands, Tammy and Rick Bittner; Michelle and Joe Stevenson; many grandchildren and great grandchildren who he loved and cherished dearly.
