Get ready to close your eyes and let piano dreams take over for awhile: Joe Sample will make a rare appearance Tuesday night at the Fairfield Theatre Company's StageOne. Sample, best known as a founding member of The Crusaders and its predecessor, the Jazz Crusaders, has long been one of the jazz world's top keyboard players. He incorporates elements of jazz, gospel, blues, Latin and classical music into his music.

LH: I'm a musician. I'm the child of two musicians that met at the Howard School of music. I'm a student of music always, a recording artist, kinda second. That's the brilliant and fun part of my job. I love to play live music for people. I'm finding out that I'm an artist in a lot of ways, like I'm interested in the actual art of making records and making music.
