Radio Rocks - Media types dropped in or called in on Friday to "welcome back to the Chicago airwaves" Doug Banks, whose new ABC syndicated show, "The Ride," begins Monday, 2 p.m.-6 p.m., on V-103 FM, now to be followed by "The Real Show" hosted by Chi-Town faves, Ramonski Luv and Joe Soto. All about eggs - It isn't a hunt, but visitors to Sunset Zoo can learn about egg-laying mammals at the EGGstravaganza from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Zoo, 2333 Oak in Manhattan. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 3 to 12. Information: (785) 587- 2737. Start with breakfast - The Spring Craft Show at Mayetta includes a biscuits and sausage gravy breakfast and chili for lunch. Show items include leather work by Joe McGuire, wood items by Lloyd Copeland, other handmade crafts and home-party items. Doors at the Mayetta Christian Church fellowship hall open at 7 a.m. Saturday, and the sale runs until 5 p.m. A door prize, silent auction and bake sale are also part of the festivities.
ROCKLAND - The Rockland Tigers scored five runs in the fifth, on a three-run home run by Andy Murphy and a two-run blast by Nick Little, to knock off the Waterville Panthers 5-2 in high school baseball action Friday. Dave McGuire and Luke Morrill each added two singles for the winners and Joe Nelson doubled to back wining pitcher Little, who didn't walk a batter.
, 86, of Colonial Heights, died Jan. 9, 2008 at H.H. McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was the son of the late Joe Ralph and Mattie Hall Ross and was a member of Highland United Methodist Church. Mr. Ross was an Army Air Corps veteran, having served in World War II, was a member of the Colonial Heights Auxiliary Police for more than 30 years and the Namozine Hunt Club in Amelia County.

AZUSA - The Azusa Chamber of Commerce will host the annual State of the City address Feb. 12 at the California Army National Guard Azusa Readiness Center, officials said. The event will feature Mayor Joe Rocha, Azusa Unified School District Superintendent Cynthia Cervantes McGuire, Azusa Pacific University President Dr. Jon Wallace and Azusa Chamber of Commerce Chairman Tony Glassman, according to Kathy Miller, school district spokeswoman.
BLUE HILL - Pat Dedman singled to drive in the winning run in the seventh inning as the Bucksport Golden Bucks edged George Stevens Academy 9-8 in high school baseball action Friday. Joe Robicheau doubled and singled twice for one RBI. Chris McGuire singled twice for another RBI. Matt Jackson and Teddy Cooke each had a single and a double, while Jackson had an RBI for Bucksport.
Carlton R. (Joe) West, 67, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at McGuire VA Medical Hospice Center. He was a member of the Kenwood United Methodist Church, the Dinwiddie Masonic Lodge #136, Dinwiddie Order of the Moose #1993, and the American Association of the Cost Engineer. Mr. West is survived by his wife Jewell N. West; a son, Jeffery R. West and his wife, Marisue, of Richmond; and a daughter, Kimberly W. Eanes and husband Mark of Church Road; grandchildren, Nicholas and Erica West and Olivia Brooke Eanes.
