In an interview, Dana Gaines Robinson, founder and President, and Jim Robinson, Chairman, Partners in Change, talked about working together, their first jobs and their retirement plans. They met in the mid 1970s when Dana was a training manager at a bank. Jim said several people indicated that the greatest risk would be working together. As it turns out, it's been marvelous. He tends to be more analytical and Dana tends to be more interpersonal. Jim was a manager of farm stores and small feed mills for an agricultural co-op in the Northeast for about eight years. Dana was an elementary school teacher in California for seven years. On their retirement plans, Dana said in addition to spending time with family, including their seven grandchildren, they are going to write another book, whic...

Our Black athletes and entertainers are being controlled by White overseers who are using investment dollars to better their race, not investing in our communities. Our young athletes think it's about them being a millionaire, their "bling bling" and having some kind of leadership because they are made popular and they're projected to other people. So, if you take one phrase, the phrase "be like Mike," a marketing genius did that. He said all of the young Black kids out their, "be like Michael Jordan." You can be a freak of nature, fly through the air, dunk a basketball any kind of way, faster than light with a God given talent. Impossible! There is only one Michael Jordan. But, we've got all our kids skipping school trying to practice basketball to be like Mike. It's like a joke. In al...

NEW YORK - This is how far Alex Rodriguez has fallen in the eyes of those who used to fear him: With the tying runs already on base in the ninth inning, Tigers manager Jim Leyland toyed with the idea of intentionally walking Robinson Cano - yes, loading the bases, putting the potential winning run on first, practically signing his death notice - just to get to the slumping A-Rod.
It did cross my mind," is what Leyland said before losing his nerve. Jose Valverde ultimately retired Cano, the Tigers survived the Yankees' uprising, and in holding on for a 5-3 victory on Sunday, now have the home-field advantage in the final three games of the AL Division Series.
