BOYKINS - Mary James (Jim) Ramsey Davis, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Jan. 22, 2011 at home at the Village at Woods Edge in Franklin surrounded by her family. She was born in Washington County April 14, 1927, the daughter of the late James Felix Ramsey and Mary Rowland Duff Ramsey. Educated in Washington County, she was a graduate of Radford College and taught home economics in Russell County, Bath County and Southampton County.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Brian Davis called a two-stroke penalty on himself on the first playoff hole Sunday to give Jim Furyk a victory at the Verizon Heritage. Davis, an Englishman who's never won on the PGA Tour, used a birdie on the 72nd hole to force the extra hole. However, Davis' approach rolled off the green of the lighthouse hole and into some rocks.
