NEW YORK, June 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- From the demise of Osama Bin Laden to the disaster in Japan, 2011 has been full of surprises- -and we're only halfway through. What's in store for the rest of the year? Renowned trendspotter Marian Salzman, CEO of Euro RSCG Worldwide PR, North America, turned her forecasting eye to the latter half of 2011 at a breakfast presentation today. Following her remarks, Salzman was joined by Jeff Chu, articles editor, Fast Company, and Ed Saunders, group marketing director, Google Creative Lab, in a roundtable discussion moderated by Jeff Brooks, CEO of Euro RSCG New York. The event took place at the agency's headquarters in New York City.

Talor Battle scored 20 of his 22 points after halftime and Penn State turned up the defensive pressure in the second half to upset No. 17 Wisconsin, 56-52, in State College, Pa. Jeff Brooks had 12 points and Andrew Jones grabbed 14 rebounds to the help the Nittany Lions (12-8, 5-4 Big Ten) overcome a 13-point deficit in the first half to beat the Badgers for the first time since 2003.
UNIVERSITY PARK -- Jeff Brooks was a bit taken aback by what he came across while walking to class the day after Penn State clinched an NCAA Tournament berth. I just saw a guy ... with a Temple sweatshirt on that goes here, and he said something to me," the senior forward said Monday. "I just gave him a little chuckle like, 'Well, we'll just see what happens on Thursday.'
Penn State senior guard Talor Battle on Monday was named to the All-Big Ten first team by conference media voters and earned a spot on the second team in voting by league coaches. Battle, who was second in the Big Ten in scoring at 20.4 points per game, became the first Penn State player to earn all-conference selections in multiple years. He was on the first team for the media and coaches last season. Fellow senior Jeff Brooks earned honorable mention in both polls.
Penn State's men's basketball team never figured its chartered flight to play at Illinois on Tuesday would include two stops in Evansville plus about a nine-hour round-trip bus ride on bad roads. The Nittany Lions were expecting a three-hour tour from State College to Champaign, Ill., but instead got a 20-hour odyssey that included an overnight stay in Evansville on Monday. Then they not only lost 68-51 before only 3,000 fans at Assembly Hall, but saw leading rebounder Jeff Brooks leave with a dislocated shoulder.
Down by 25 points to Kentucky State in the closing minutes of the Dayton Classic at Welcome Stadium Sunday night, Central State took over the football at its own 6-yard line. From there, many of the Marauder players couldn't see the riches of the far end zone, much less anything else except the big loss about to be hung on them in their season opener. Some guys on the CSU bench were hanging their heads, a couple were in tears, but then there was quarterback Jeff Brooks, one of just a handful of seniors on his baby-faced team.
Penn State hopes to get leading rebounder Jeff Brooks back within the week from a dislocated right shoulder. The 6-foot-8 forward, who averages 13.2 points and 7.2 rebounds, hurt the shoulder during last week's 68-51 loss at Illinois. He was in uniform Sunday but didn't play in the 65-62 home loss to Michigan.
ZILLAH, Wash. -- For Joe Balanoff and his wife, Betty Hageman of Seattle, the weekend provided a chance to seek out some sun, a bit of hiking, and some wine. For Jeff and Jodi Brooks of Selah, Thanksgiving in Wine Country gave them an opportunity to reacquaint with winery owners they have come to know -- and taste some wine.
