Janet E. Palmer, 59, beloved wife of Dale W. Palmer, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the family home in Columbia. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Parker Funeral Service in Columbia. A graveside service and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Reverend James Willis (Jimmie) Jones, 84, of RR 3, Box 333B (Halls Ridge Road), Princeton, W. Va., died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born September 11, 1925, in Victoria, Va., he was the son of the late James Malcolm and Mary Leigh Gibson Jones. Jimmie retired in 1990 after 37 years of faithful ministry. He began as a lay speaker in Goodview, Va. and on Mother's Day in 1953, Jimmie visited and preached his first sermon at a little schoolhouse on Halls Ridge that would eventually be called Johnston Chapel. As he continued to preach, the church was organized, and in September, 1954, "Preacher Jimmie" was called to become full-time pastor of Johnston Chapel.
