DAYTON -- Investors should expect higher volatility, lower returns and potential pitfalls in the 2011 stock market, according to a sweeping economic forecast of next year's financial markets by James Investment Research, the $2.3 billion investment boutique based in Beavercreek.
That doesn't mean money can't be made, said president and CEO Barry R. James. But investors will be best prepared for what could be a quickly changing environment by having a broad mix of investments. A new bull market is unlikely.

DAYTON -- Job losses, tight credit, a slumping housing market and other symptoms of the recession will continue into next year, but the economy will enjoy periodic stock-market rallies and cheaper prices for oil and other commodities, financial analysts said.

Local financial-industry experts don't expect a proposed $700 billion bailout plan winding its way through Washington to provide the slam dunk the troubled U.S. economy needs to rebound.
Frank James Jr., chairman of James Investment Research Inc., said the proposed plan would penalize people who lived within their means and kept their risk low by saddling them with either a shrinking dollar or higher taxes.
