Charity poker The Mardi Gras Casino & Resort hosted a Chips for Charity poker tournament Jan. 18. The winner was Kensie Westerfield, playing for the Alzheimers Association, which received a $5,000 contribution from Mardi Gras. , 79, of Lancaster, PA and long time resident of Wharton, NJ, died Monday, November 9, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Vera Moyer Houck. She was the wife of Richard M. Dyson. They were married for 56 years. She worked for Howmet Corporation, but would be best described as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 91 in Wharton, NJ.
She is also survived by children, Gregory J. husband of Karen K. Dyson of Fort Montgomery, NY, Debora J. wife of Douglas A. Claire Houck, 85, of Columbia passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011 at the home of her niece in West Hempfield Township. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Walter F. and Katharine Propst Houck. She was a bank teller at the former Farmer's First Bank, Marietta, before her retirement. She was a member of Kinderhook Evangelical Congregational Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, collecting dolls, traveling with her friends Amy and Donnie, spending time and being entertained by her niece's pets, especially "Scout the Cat.
She is survived by one brother: James A. husband of Lois Houck, York. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary L. Stone and Fay E. Shortlidge.

PORTSMOUTH - Frances Caudle Houck, 85, of the 3500 block of Pine Road, died Nov. 3, 2005. A native of Winston- Salem, N.C., she was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Houck and a son, Thomas B. Houck.
Survivors include a son, James F. Houck and wife Bonnie of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Jamie Brown and husband Bill and C.B. Houck; and two great-grandchildren, Ben and Elizabeth Brown.

VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary Hazel Reese Lawson, 99, went to be with her Lord Dec. 19, 2009. She was born in Pulaski, Va., Aug. 24, 1910 to the Late Burton Thomas Reese and Mary Lee Fry Reese. She attended Pulaski High School and graduated from the University of Virginia School Of Nursing in 1933.
She was married for 55 years to the late James A. Lawson Jr. and was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Olyn Reese; her grandson, Thomas B. Hall; and granddaughter, Kelly C. Hall and son- in-law, Howard Price. She is survived by four children, Mary Jeanette L. Price, Rebecca L. McLaughlin and her husband Robert, Sarah L. Houck and her husband Eugene and a son, James A.
