NORFOLK - James Oscar Atkinson III, 73, of the 200 block of North Shore Road, died Dec. 31, 2006, in his residence. He was a native of Greensboro, N.C., and a resident of Norfolk for most of his life. He was the son of the late James Oscar Atkinson Jr. and Foye Louise Young Atkinson and the widower of Lois Robbins Atkinson. He was a graduate of Granby High School and the Virginia Military Institute Class of 1955, earning a B.S. in civil engineering. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Most recently, he was self employed as a registered professional engineer.
LOST NATION, Iowa - James "A.J." Atkinson, 60, of Lowden, Iowa, formerly of Lost Nation, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Veterans Medical Center in Iowa City, after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lost Nation, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26. Burial will be in Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
VIRGINIA BEACH - James Marcus Atkinson, 91, died Aug. 24, 2007, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Health Center. He was a lifelong resident of Tidewater born Dec. 16, 1915, on Granby Street, Norfolk. He was the son of the late William James Atkinson and Mary Elizabeth Bullard Atkinson. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Cora Padon Atkinson; his son, Thomas William Atkinson; granddaughter, Kristen Anne Edwards; brother, Thomas Eddie Atkinson; and sister, Elizabeth A. Orcutt. He was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church since 1950, Friendship Bible Class, life member and former treasurer for 30 years of Davis Corner Fire and Rescue Squad, life member of Knights of Pythias Lodge No. 10. He was retired from Hecht Distributors as a district manager.

Funeral Services for Mr. James Edward "Eddie" Atkinson, 48, of Chestnut Street, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest on October 23, 2005, after an extended illness at the Aiken Regional Medical Center, will be conducted this Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. Mr. Robert Atkinson and Rev. Bob G. Still officiating. Interment in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will be at the residence of Jean and Terry McIntosh, 99 Chestnut Street, Clearwater, SC.

Calvin Glenn Hall, 60, of Lafayette, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. He was born on June 8, 1950, in Lafayette, Va. Glenn was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. All who knew him will miss his big laugh, fun stories and willingness to help. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.W. and Josephine Hall.
