While risk assessment is important in the management of intimate partner violence perpetrators, the science and practice of risk assessment in this field are still in early development. This article reviews the literature on intimate partner violence risk assessment. The original intent was to direct discussion to assist the Military Family Advocacy Program (FAP), U.S. Department of Defense, to develop guidelines for the treatment of domestic violence offenders. One thing that high school sports taught all followers in the 2000s was that what happens off the field can be as important as what happens between the lines. Although the past 10 years have been full of outstanding achievements on the fields and courts of play, various issues and controversies dominated conversation among coaches, administrators, state officials, fans, parents and student-athletes. In no prior decade have prep sports been so litigious in the Mountain State. It was a decade of almost non-stop drama and debate in offices and courtrooms in all corners of West Virginia.
