Now, through the use of Internet broadcasting technologies like the one developed by WhiteBlox, institutes of higher education can bring their students a virtual classroom with all the same benefits promised in a traditional classroom, in addition to some new ones. WhiteBlox's customizable online media player, for instance, can allow universities to broadcast videos of classes or lectures in which professors can also interact with their class through chat rooms, polls or surveys.
Using the Internet, educational institutions can broadcast everything from guest lecturer series, classes, graduation ceremonies, school government meetings and even virtual tours of their campuses to attract new students," said Greg Demetriades, chairman and chief executive officer of WhiteBlox, a Houston-based provider of Internet broadcasting technology. "Since online programming can be offered on-demand, anytime, anywhere, Internet classes add a tremendous level of freedom and flexibility to students," said Demetriades. "In the future, we may see more and more classes moving online, as our world becomes increasingly mobile and tech-savvy.

SAO PAULO - A funeral home in Brazil is broadcasting its services live over the Internet, giving some of the millions of Brazilians living abroad the chance to say a final goodbye to their loved ones. The Gonzaga funeral home says it has started streaming video of burials, masses and funeral processions in real time to those who can't make it to the ceremonies. It even provides an online chat room.
