The International Brotherhood of Police Officers (IBPO) is the only major national police organization to have endorsed the winner of the last three presidential elections. Today, IBPO endorses John Kerry because of his strong anti-crime record and because of President Bush's consistent failure to support law enforcement in the battle against crime and the war against terror. Joining the International Union of Police Associations (IUPA) in support of John Kerry, IBPO sends another message that John Kerry stands for a strong and safe America. IBPO ENDORSED GEORGE W. BUSH IN 2000, BILL CLINTON IN 1996 AND 1992:
The union representing Port Authority police has voted to join the International Union of Police Associations, an affiliate of the AFL-CIO, officials said. Patrolman Joseph DelSole, president of the Port Authority Transit Police Association, said the unanimous vote to join the IUPA was taken in the hope that the national organization could provide more clout and more resources for the local union as it negotiates a new contract.
Wisconsin's attorney general should work with state and local officials to develop model legislation to help municipalities crack down on problems such as cruising or gang-related congregating, Republican attorney general candidate J.B. Van Hollen said Thursday in Milwaukee. Van Hollen spoke at a news conference at the offices of the Milwaukee Police Association, which was joined by the Milwaukee Police Supervisors Organization, the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriffs' Association and the International Union of Police Associations in endorsing Van Hollen.
