FRONT ROYAL, Va., Sept. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer, president, Human Life International, welcomes the departure of the Women on Waves abortion ship from Portugal and the potential prosecution of its founder, Dr. Rebecca Gomperts, for incitement to illegal abortion. For the past two months Hamas negotiated with Fatah and other Palestinian parties to form a coalition government of national unity. But negotiations led to greater differences and Hamas decided to go it alone since it had a majority vote in the Palestinian parliament. Fatah criticized Hamas for rejecting the PLO charter which was amended in 1995 to recognize Israel's right to exist. The PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) has been a defunct body for the past dozen years. But the Palestinian Authority exists today by virtue of the agreements signed by Arafat as the head of the PLO. Critics contend that Hamas committed its first strategic error in missing the opportunity to form a unity government that represented all Palestinians. Ousted Fatah politicians like Saeb Erekat warned that...

Since the Cities for Climate Protection Program began in 1993, it has grown to 166 member cities in the United States, and more than 700 cities worldwide. ICLEI estimates that these efforts also net more than $535 million in yearly savings. "There's not one city we've worked with that has not seen some level of cost savings," says Michelle Wyman, the executive director of ICLEI's U.S. office. "It's guaranteed. The Cities for Climate Protection program isn't without its problems and risks. It's entirely voluntary, and commitment to it varies. Tracking emissions a...
