Members of the City Council last week reviewed the report from Emergency Services Consulting International of Wilsonville, Ore., that was commissioned last fall. Although no decisions were made, City Manager Catherine Conlow is expected to use the report and its findings to see what can reasonably be implemented in the future.

NEW ORLEANS -- The search for Hurricane Katrina victims has ended in Louisiana with a death toll at 964, but more searches will be conducted if someone reports seeing a body, a state official said Monday.
State and federal agencies have finished their sweeps through the city, but Kenyon International Emergency Services, the private company hired by the state to remove the bodies, is on call if any other body is found, said Bob Johannessen, a spokesman with the state Department of Health and Hospitals.

Port Everglades, the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, the Broward County Emergency Management Division, Broward County Human Services Department and Broward County Libraries Division are among several agencies that stepped up to help.
The Broward County Commission also approved a waiver of landing fees through August 2010 at the Fort LauderdaleHollywood International Airport for emergency relief operations to Haiti. The Broward County Emergency Management Division continues to coordinate relief efforts with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Coast Guard, and State agencies. Broward County Human Services has been involved in coordinating local human services relief.
