• County to Conduct First Survey

For the first time, Montgomery County will use a questionnaire to ask residents what they think about community and government. The National Citizen Survey will reach 1,200 homes in Blacksburg, Christiansburg and unincorporated areas next month in the mail. The International City/County Management Association and the National Research Center, which prepare, collect and analyze the survey, expect that about one-third of those who get the forms to respond this fall, according to information provided by the groups.

• Baltimore to Host 4,000 Government Wonks

Baltimore will host a conference in 2018 that will bring about 4,000 local government professionals to the area. The International City/County Management Association picked the city for its annual conference Sept. 23-26, 2018. It will be the first time in the association's 100-year history that the annual conference will be held in Maryland.
