- Imi Seeks Comments On Mediator Competency Standards
Last year, the International Mediation Institute (IMI) was created in The Hague by the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (a division of the American Arbitration Association), the Netherlands Mediation Institute and the Singapore Mediation International Arbitration Centre. IMI's goal is to make mediation better accepted and a more accessible profession. The IMI has developed two different competency certifications, a basic certification (Professional Mediator Competency Certification) and a certification for mediators who are involved in mediations involving more than one culture (Intercultural Mediator Competency Certification). In addition to competence standards, the IMI's Independent Standards Commission developed a Code of Ethical Conduct.
