To fund each of the 23 proposed construction projects for West Virginia school districts this year, the state School Building Authority would need to dish out about $170 million.
Even with a successful bond sale this May, the authority would be able to cut checks to the tune of only $40 million this year, Executive Director Mark Manchin said.

Pursuant to section 6(c)(3) of the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act (AIA), the authority to file inter partes reexamination requests terminates effective September 16, 2012. Accordingly, any original or corrected/replacement request for an inter partes reexamination submitted on or after September 16, 2012, will not be accorded a filing date, and any such request will not be granted. This notice provides guidance to inter partes reexamination requesters with respect to timely filing requests prior to September 16, 2012, i.e., by the September 15, 2012, last day for filing of an inter partes reexamination request.

The second stretch of the $2.6 billion Inter-County Connector will open in time for the morning rush hour on Nov. 22, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.
The highway, officially named Maryland 200, runs through the Washington suburbs, linking Gaithersburg in Montgomery County to Laurel in Prince George's County.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) amends existing regulations to reflect a new statutory authority to extend eligibility for burial in a national cemetery to include parents of certain veterans, as authorized by the Veterans' Benefits Act of 2010 (the Act), enacted on October 13, 2010. The Act authorizes the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to inter the biological or legally adoptive parents of a deceased veteran if the deceased veteran is a hostile casualty or dies from a training-related injury, is interred in a VA national cemetery in a gravesite with available space, and has no spouse or child who is buried, or surviving spouse or child who, upon death, may be eligible for burial, in a national cemetery.

After months of anticipation, but only weeks before the MTA plans to stop running Long Island Bus, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano on Thursday announced a contract with Illinois-based Veolia Transportation to operate what will be known as the Nassau Inter- County Express as the new county bus system.
Mangano said he submitted the five-year contract with a five- year extension for Veolia earlier in the day to the county Legislature, which must still approve it. The Nassau Interim Finance Authority also must sign off on the deal.
