Because of the escalating value of intangible assets to industrial organizations, active management of a company's intellectual property has become an increasingly important responsibility of R&D and business managers. But the avalanche of published patent documents and their linguistic complexity makes it impractical to maintain an understanding of the patent landscape around an industry segment or technology by manual review of individual documents. Visualization of groups of documents within an IP landscape through appropriate charts and graphs, and a comprehensive interpretation of their significance, enables R&D and business managers to communicate appropriate alternatives to other decision-makers in their organizations, enabling fast "sticky" decisions that maximizes the i...

Even after World War II and the Korean Wars when Mexican American proportionately received more Medal of Honors than any other group, just convincing Anglos that Mexican Americans were entitled to veterans benefits was difficult. This rejection forced Mexican Americans to form the American GI Forum and other organizations to demand equal rights.
[David C. Bury] acted on the recommendation of Special Master Willis Hawley who on paper has a good record in supporting progressive education. But most of his experience is with African Americans in Maryland and he has had little exposure to Latinos and even less with Arizona politics. Now that supply chain management has a two-decade research history, it is possible to examine the literature to identify whether there is any latent intellectual structure using bibliometric tools. The study applies a citation and co-citation approach to reveal four clusters of research that have emerged. One cluster has strong ties to the logistics field, with primarily conceptual articles. A second cluster finds its roots in operations research, and consists mainly of modeling articles. The application of multidimensional scaling, cluster analysis, and factor analysis on co-citations demonstrated a clearly identifiable structure. The structure is examined and implications for the future development of supply chain research are discussed.
