According to M. Michael Babikian, Transamerica Insurance and Investments, many people complete the basics of estate planning, such as executing a will, living trust, and possibly an irrevocable life insurance trust, and then feel the estate planning process is finished. However, more sophisticated planning should be considered for people of high net worth and families with special considerations. Thomas J. Henske, Lenox Advisors Inc., says that you can select your clients - the right clients for you. And, by being selective, you'll be better able to provide outstanding service, get more referrals, and attract more clients. More of the clients you like. NEW HAVEN -- Anne Worcester isn't one ever to take the journey of Tommy and Victoria Worcester for granted, but three months ago, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time she lost her beloved mother to lymphoma, Worcester found inspiration, pride and strength from her two teenage children. Tommy, 15, and Victoria, 13, role models in their own innocence, both lost their hearing at a young age and are doing remarkably well today.
I kept an online journal on something called CaringBridge, which is a great way to keep in touch with people because there was no way I was getting on the phone," said Worcester Thursday during her first full day back on the job for the 10th annual First Niagara Bank free tennis lesson on the grounds of the Connecticut Tennis Center. "So at thr...

Modeled after gyms, TechShop is attracting members who pay as little as $100 per month to use industrial strength equipment to invent whatever they can imagine.

On the same day we decided to brave the weather and head out for lunch and a movie. We went to one of [Lisa]'s favorites, Rubi's. It was steamy in the café and bustling with bundled-up patrons. Lisa knew exactly what she was going to get - the tuna melt. Turns out I knew too. It was their Cuban sandwich - porchetta (slow roasted pork), roasted prosciutto, cornichons, Asiago cheese and hot mustard on a baguette.
Our final meal of the weekend was my big ta-da "thank you for the invitation" lunch. I brought some bulgogi (sweet and savory Korean marinated beef) from my freezer. I had it at a party once and was surprised to find out it was from Trader Joe's. I didn't know what I was going to do with it at the time, but was really glad it was there for inspiration.
Earlier in the weekend I ha...

Creating art is an interesting process, but one that does not take place in a vacuum. Inspiration can come from many sources; creative sparks have myriad origins.
Two ongoing art exhibitions in Salt Lake City recognize and pay tribute to that fact: "The Smithson Effect," on display at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, and "Homage," at the Rio Gallery.

[Chike Ibeabuchi] was one of five panelists at a discussion entitled "Why Does Peacemaking Matter?" which was held July 20 at Lesley University as part of the inaugural Peace Games National Conference. Other conference panelists included Mission Grammar School Principal Maura Bradley, Springfield College Assistant Dean and Campus Director Ulrich Johnson and Penny Snider-Light, a peace representative from the World Peace Prayer Society.
Killing in the streets is not new," said Johnson. "Peace and justice is a lifestyle, an ideology. You as an individual have to be peace and justice.
The end of the forum featured a series of concurrent workshops that offered insight and perspective. They included "How Peace Games Works: Real Stories from a School," "Using Games to Build a Community," "P...
