  • Washington County Coroner S. Timothy Warco has scheduled an inquest into the death of a man who was killed in a shootout with police following a pursuit that began in the city of Washington and ended along Route 40 in South Strabane. Kelly Dwayne Smith, also known as John Parks, 42, of Canonsburg, died in the shootout on the night of July 7, 2010, near the Kopper Kettle lounge, east of Washington. Washington County District Attorney Steven M. Toprani has said it appears that the shooting was justified.
