At the Forum held at Hill Dickinson on Feb 21, 2007, John Turnbull, the Deputy General Manager of the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp and Co-Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Consulting Group for the UCP Revision, gave some 100 delegates a complete update on UCP 600 publication. The new rules, which were adopted in October 2006, become effective on the Jul 1, 2007. Under the clause "Bills of Lading signed on behalf of the master," ICC says that it is pleased to see this stipulation deleted. The actual name of the vessel master added nothing to the authenticity of a Bill of Lading. For 'Road, Rail or Inland Waterway Transport Documents' the criteria for 'Original Documents' is relaxed to reflect the practicalities of this mode of transport.
