BANGOR, Maine -- A Charleston man who spent more than two years in federal prison for possession of child pornography was indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury on 10 counts of sexual abuse of a minor.
Carey E. Gonyer, 43, was charged in October with possession of sexually explicit material. He was not indicted Wednesday on that charge by the grand jury.

WASHINGTON - A Maryland-based rabbi who claimed he was the "Jewish Indiana Jones" and told daring stories of rescuing sacred Torah scrolls he said had survived the Holocaust was indicted Wednesday on two counts of mail and wire fraud.

Michael A. Emerson, 38, of Bangor was indicted on charges of unlawful sexual contact, two counts of sexual misconduct with a child, two counts of sexual abuse of a minor and possession of sexually explicit materials.

BANGOR, Maine -- A Levant man charged with savagely beating and robbing his elderly father on Nov. 3 and keeping the 72-year-old from getting help was indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury.
Fred Ward, 31, was indicted for burglary, robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping.

BANGOR - Two men were indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury on charges of robbery, assault and attempted theft in connection with an April 17 incident in Bangor.
Jacob Hurd, 22, of Charleston and Matthew Gormely, 24, of Bangor were riding with Connie Toothaker, 21, of Carmel in her truck when the two men allegedly attacked a 28-year-old man who had called an unidentified female passenger and asked for a ride to the store at about 9 p.m.

BANGOR - A Dexter man whose apartment house was being taken by the town for nonpayment of taxes was indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury on an arson charge in connection with a fire that destroyed the building last month.
Henry Murdoch, 45, of St. Francis Street was arrested Dec. 23 by Investigator Scott Richardson of the State Fire Marshal's Office and Dexter police Officer Kevin Wintle, according to a previously published report.
