Two South Hills school districts that are tweaking regulations for how students and staff can interact online are struggling to strike a balance between ensuring students' safety and keeping channels open for learning opportunities. Mt. Lebanon and Upper St. Clair are hammering out new policies that would define the many ways students can share information with teachers, staff and coaches online -- such as through public e-mail accounts, text-messaging, Twitter, blogs, collectively edited "wiki" articles and Facebook -- and set regulations for each method.
