NAIROBI, Kenya, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading global medical technology company, and the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today set in motion a joint, multi-year initiative to improve blood collection practices in African clinics and hospitals.
The program is designed to protect both health workers and patients in countries severely impacted by the HIV/AIDS pandemic by improving blood collection practices. The initiative ultimately aims to support training for thousands of healthcare workers in sub- Saharan Africa, tracking hundreds of thousands of blood draws per year within each participating country.

NWOESC services school systems in four counties - Fulton, Williams, Defiance, and Henry - and provides curriculum development, special education services, and administration and technical support to 23 separate school districts. Currently, NBEC manages life, dental, health, and vision insurance benefit programs; provides data processing services through its NWOCA subsidiary; offers a Workers' Compensation Group Rating Program; assists in the preparation of financial reports; offers in-service training sessions to employees of its member districts; and provides fiscal agency services to other cooperative purchasing programs.

Three new police officers were added to the St. Albans Police Department during the May 21 City Council meeting. William Ty Barker, James Mathew Martin and Jeffery Brandon Perry were sworn into office with their family and friends in attendance. Barker came to the position with a background in law enforcement. He has served as a police officer with the communities of Ansted and Gauley Bridge. Barker was a member of the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force assigned to working drug and violent crime investigations. In addition to municipal policing, Barker has served as a deputy with the Nicholas County Sheriffs Department. Reminder: The National Statler Center, 1160 Main St. is accepting applications from blind, visually impaired and physically disabled individuals for career training in hospitality, customer service and contact center professions. Classes for the 10-week course begin Jan. 18. The program provides customer service training for jobs in hotels, call centers, financial and medical offices, transportation and communication fields. Training also includes Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook using Assistive Technology. Personal job-search assistance is included. The job placement rate for graduates is 82 percent.
