  • Waukesha - Donovan Riley, a disgraced state Senate candidate, is paying a steep price for voting twice in the same election in 2000. Riley agreed on Thursday to pay a $10,000 fine, surrender his law licenses in Wisconsin and Illinois and not practice law. He must also return campaign contributions to supporters who request refunds in the next 30 days even if it means paying them from his personal funds.

  • Robert Alan Bush, who is Jo Daviess County Assistant state's attorney and is a former public defender, has had his license to practice law suspended for four years by the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (IARDC). The action was taken Nov. 1 in the case that was first presented in Sept. 2009. Bush has 21 days from the day the decision was handed down (Nov. 1) to appeal the commission's decision. (On Monday, Nov. 15, Bush said he does not plan to appeal. He did not return a phone call on Tuesday, Nov. 16.) The commission may also appeal and argue for disbarment.
