SANTA ANA - A man was sentenced today to 16 years to life behind bars for killing his longtime girlfriend, with whom he had four children, in a Huntington Beach motel room after she told him she didn't want to stay together. Fidelio Marin of Huntington Beach was convicted March 30 of second- degree murder, and the jury also found true a sentencing enhancement that he used a deadly weapon -- a knife -- in the Oct. 10, 2008, slaying of 32-year-old Felix Mendez at the Starlight Inn at 18382 Huntington Beach Blvd.
