Ex-Owner of Huntington Beach Company Sentenced to Three Years for Embezzlement
LOS ANGELES - The ex-president and owner of a Huntington Beach financial company was sentenced today to 37 months in prison and ordered to pay nearly $4 million in restitution for stealing funds slated to make low-income homes in the Southland and elsewhere safer, prosecutors said.

SANTA ANA - A man was sentenced today to 16 years to life behind bars for killing his longtime girlfriend, with whom he had four children, in a Huntington Beach motel room after she told him she didn't want to stay together.
Fidelio Marin of Huntington Beach was convicted March 30 of second- degree murder, and the jury also found true a sentencing enhancement that he used a deadly weapon -- a knife -- in the Oct. 10, 2008, slaying of 32-year-old Felix Mendez at the Starlight Inn at 18382 Huntington Beach Blvd.

HUNTINGTON BEACH - Authorities have identified the body of a woman that was found on Huntington State Beach on Monday morning.
News reports identified the body as that of 30-year-old Myphuong Tran of La Habra.

HUNTINGTON BEACH - A man washing windows at a medical office building in Huntington Beach was killed today when the equipment he was using came into contact with a 12,000-volt electrical line, authorities said.
The accident happened at about 6:30 a.m. at Beach Boulevard and Newman Avenue, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

HUNTINGTON BEACH - A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck Tuesday in Huntington Beach.
The motorcyclist was southbound on Brookhurst Street near Adams Avenue when he collided with a 1982 Chevrolet Silverado about 1:45 p.m., according to Huntington Beach police Sgt. Jon Haught.

HUNTINGTON BEACH - A man who unsuccessfully tried to rob a bank in Huntington Beach today went to a bank in Irvine where he escaped with money. | POLICE NEWS
The unsuccessful robbery occurred at 11:15 a.m. at a US Bank branch at 20002 Brookhurst St. in Huntington Beach, said Laura Eimiller of the FBI.

HUNTINGTON BEACH - A 24-foot power boat exploded Saturday in Huntington Beach, injuring eight of the nine people aboard, sheriff's officials said.
The blast on the 2003 Monterey happened just before noon at the Sunset Beach Harbor, Sgt. Jeff Foster of the Orange County Sheriff's Harbor Patrol said.
