Colonial Funeral Home YAKIMA - Nelson Moses passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010, Yakima, Washington. He resided in Brownstown, WA the majority of his life. Nelson was born in Spearfish, WA, August 18,1927, to Carl Moses and Dorothy Speedis George Sawyhill. He was an Elder and Leader of Toppenish Creek Longhouse, member of Wapato Legion Fred Barrett, Yakama Warriors and Yakama Indian Rodeo Association. He served in the Army December 7, 1945 to June, 1947, in World War II and was in the Infantry, 2nd Division 23rd Infantry 1st Regiment Company C, Ft. Lewis, WA. Nelson was an avid sport fan, enjoyed following and cheering on the White Swan Cougars, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Super Sonics, White Swan Sonics and the Yakama Sunkings. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis recently hosted a graduation celebration for 13 Habitat families who completed Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace University. Memphis Habitat homeowners are required to complete the 15-week course as part of the Habitat homeownership program. Habitat builds homes alongside partner families. Habitat houses are built with volunteer labor and sold to partner families, at no profit and with no interest charged. Once accepted into the Habitat program and before purchasing their homes, future homeowners must contribute a $1,000 down payment; invest 350 hours of sweat equity working on their home, the homes of other homeowners and volunteering with Habitat and other nonprofit groups; and complete Financial Peace University.
