Add humidity to the high temperatures that have Inland Empire residents diving into local swimming holes or heading for the beach.
Monsoonal moisture is creeping into the area, and thunderstorms could be in store for the High Desert and mountains, according to Joe Dandrea, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in San Diego.

The thought of working for hours on a 90-degree day makes landscaper James Miller sweat.
Sometimes I hope it rains," Miller, 22, said Tuesday afternoon while taking a break from laying stone pavers outside a Sewickley home. Humidity made it feel like 100 degrees, and he and four co- workers from Diamond Landscaping in Kilbuck drank a lot of water and mopped away sweat.

Fires burned through more than 200 acres of forest and brush from Craig to Botetourt and Montgomery counties Monday, one of this winter's driest and windiest days.

Gusts blew up to 40 miles per hour in some areas and humidity was as low as 15 percent, the weather service reported.

Q: I have a question about what the proper humidity should be in our home. I have several thermo-hygrometers in our house. Our home doesn't feel too dry in the winter. We have a portable humidifier in our bedroom to add a little moisture during the winter, and we enjoy the soothing hum of it. Our house stays anywhere from 30 to 40 percent in the coldest part of winter. Is that OK? Also, I've had a heating and air company out to get a quote on installing a humidifier on the gas furnace. They told me the space around our furnace wouldn't accommodate a regular humidifier, but they recommended a steam humidifier due to the smaller size of the unit. What is your take on a steam humidifier?
A: It would be hard to raise the indoor humidity levels above 40 percent when the room temperature is 6...

LOS ANGELES - The Southland's heat wave could become distinctly unpleasant in some inland areas this weekend because of an injection of moisture that will produce humid conditions and create a risk of showers and thunderstorms, forecasters said.
But the Long Beach shoreline will be relatively comfortable with temperatures anchored in the 70s.

A common summer complaint is: It's not the heat, it's the humidity. Too much moisture in the hot summer air can turn your home into a steam bath. Beyond leaving you feeling hot, sticky and generally uncomfortable, high humidity can be bad for your home's health as well.
It can cause warped wood floors, furniture and trim; chipped and peeling paint and wallpaper; wet stains on walls and ceilings; and musty, foul-smelling odors. It also can encourage the growth of dust mites, fungi, bacteria, mold and mildew.

Humidity was the main cause of a chemical reaction that forced about 500 workers at the Leetsdale Industrial Park to evacuate May 27.
The Allegheny County Health Department Thursday released a report analyzing the incident, which occurred in a 1,500-pound capacity blender at Weatherford International Ltd.'s Engineered Chemistry division.
